Gender Equality and Equal Treatment Commissioner

The Gender Equality and Equal Treatment Commissioner is an independent and impartial official who monitors compliance with the requirements of the Gender Equality Act and the Equal Treatment Act. The Commissioner advises and assists anyone who feels they have been discriminated against. The Commissioner also advises employers and other organisations who need advice on implementing gender equality in their organisation. The Commissioner is supported in their work by the office of the Commissioner.

Appointment of the Commissioner to office, termination of his or her mandate, restrictions on his or her activities and the competence of the Commissioner are provided for in the Equal Treatment Act.
